Our Junior Plus Team ...

sessions run weekly during term time on a Monday from 6pm - 7pm for children in P5 - P7/S1
This class builds on the confidence growth instilled in the Junior sessions. It also means if a child is joining us for the first time during this group, we are able to encourage and promote confidence and self-belief in everything we do.
Development......

We continue to encourage creative development and self-expression and look at ways of communicating these ideas successfully and presenting them to their peers.
We will use voice and movement in a more purposeful way and start to think about different acting techniques and how to introduce emotion.

Different ways to create character and introduce them to techniques to help them do this will be explored within groups and on their own.

Story-telling through improvisation and using existing scripts and stories are a very important step to be introduced and tool to be used. Styles and genres of theatre are discussed and opinions explored.
We will think about the different roles and responsibilities in theatre and give opportunities for our members to take on different roles when creating their own work. Collaboration and focus are important skills learned and building a trust within the group is paramount.

Junior Plus Productions....
There will be plenty of opportunities for children who are enthusiastic to take part in public performance and smaller works will be shared with family and friends.
All children can get a part in these productions if they are enthusiastic to try, and every encouragement is given for them to give it a go.There is no requirement to do so if our members do not feel ready yet for a stage appearance or maybe it's just not for them, there are always plenty of roles to be had behind the scenes.

While in the Junior Plus team, there will be opportunities for children to be offered more substantial roles with lines. This will be discussed with parents/carers as it often requires a commitment to possible line learning and extra rehearsals sometimes.

These roles may be offered to a child or they may be encouraged to audition for a particular role.
This is an important learning opportunity for a child and is always handled with care and consideration.
There will be times when children will be disappointed, but a powerful skill can be gained by learning how to handle not getting a part, or even winning a sought after part over your friend.
Participating in the audition process is a never-ending resource for learning important and transferable life skills.
Every attempt would be made at this stage to double up on roles to slightly lessen the pressure in a major production.

Key skills covered.....
Developing creativity, storytelling, voice, movement, character, improvisation, emotions, theatre styles, presentation skills, confidence, self-expression, group work, collaboration, ensemble building, listening, leading, concentration, audition and monologue skills and focus.
